Money and off-rack
Budget and payment
The budget
Every commission shows a budget in the sketchbook. According to the community, that is what the client pays: whatever you do not spend on fabric and accessories is yours.
Failed commissions
Since the first patch (build 403), if the client accepts the commission you get paid even if you missed something.
Shop rank
Your shop has a rank (for example "Rank 24 - Respected V") that rises with reputation. According to the community it unlocks more fabrics in the shop and raises the price of dresses you sell.
Off-rack dresses
Besides commissions, you can design your own dresses and sell them in your shop. It is also the game's sandbox mode, with no requirements to meet.
According to the community, off-rack unlocks early (after the first story dresses): in the sketchbook, flip to the next page. Load Measurements lets you use any client's measurements.
The sale price, according to players on the official Discord, depends on:
- Material: the pricier the fabric and accessories used, the more it is worth.
- Labour: the time you spent sewing.
- Quality: a multiplier of up to 150%.
- Prestige: a multiplier of up to 150%, tied to your rank.
Because these bonuses stack, selling almost always turns a profit over what you spent. One player estimates the price as (materials + sewing) × (quality + prestige − 100) / 100. It is a community formula, not an official one.
Sell the leftovers
Bought too much fabric? Make a quick dress with it and sell it: you get the money back and then some.
Burlap is pure profit
An all-burlap dress is worth less, but since the fabric is free, every coin is profit.
Peek at the price
In build 443 the button was renamed "Sell as off-rack". According to the community you can press it to see the dress value and then cancel; careful not to sell by accident.
Accessories are worth money
Since materials count, some players pile expensive accessories (brooches, gems) onto dresses to sell them for much more.
Commission not working out?
If you need to restart a dress, instead of scrapping it you can finish it, take the photo and sell it off-rack or gift it to a client (once those options are unlocked). Neither has requirements.
