Base building
Your base area
A base exists around a Flame Altar. Inside its area, terrain changes and buildings stay; outside, the terrain resets after 30 minutes or when you restart the game. You can grow the altar's area with Shroud materials.
| Altar level | Max size | Materials | Flame level |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 40×40×40 | — | 1 |
| 2 | 80×80×80 | 1 Shroud Core | 1 |
| 3 | 120×120×120 | 5 Shroud Core | 2 |
| 4 | 160×160×160 | 5 Shroud Nexus | 3 |
Table from the wiki (pre-1.0). In 1.0, the maximum number of Flame Altars in the world goes up to 15 at Flame level 10 and 16 at level 11. At Flame 11, altars also push back the Shroud.
Comfort and the Rested buff
Rested
You become Rested when there are no enemies nearby, you are sheltered, warm and surrounded by comfort items. The buff greatly increases stamina and stamina regeneration. Without it you are tired: you sprint, dodge, glide, mine and chop for less time.
Comfort level
Beds, chairs, tables, fireplaces, lights, trophies and plushies add comfort. Each comfort level adds one more minute of Rested. Playing a musical instrument also helps. Boss trophies have been worth a lot of comfort since Update 8.
Farming, chests and workshops in 1.0
Faster plants
Growth times went down overall: small plants grow quickly, large plants and trees take longer.
More productive animals
Farm animals produce their goods much faster.
More generous factories
Many factory and cooking station recipes give more and take less time, especially the ones you need a lot of.
Chests earlier
24-slot chests and magic chests come earlier in progression, and are upgraded in place without emptying them.
Biome stone
Recipes that need stone now use the stone of the matching biome, not always Springlands stone.
Explosives
Bombs were rebalanced and no longer do as much damage to very hard building materials.
Sparkworks & Adventure Sharing
Adventure Sharing (since Update 8) lets you publish your world and download other players' worlds from the main menu. 1.0 adds Sparkworks: craft its tools and interactive props, connect inputs (levers, pressure plates) to outputs (doors, trapdoors, enemies) and set rules in a 2D graph editor. At the Flame Altar you choose where visitors spawn.
